Disappointed Domainer

hi everybody – my name is Dave and I currently live up on the Northern Rivers of New South Wales. It is a great spot to live especially if you work from home.

I came across this forum a few days ago after just missing out on shoppingcart.com.au at drop the other day. I still can't believe that 1) somebody let that domain expire, and 2) I managed to miss it!

Anyhow, I look forward to meeting a few more Australian domainers through this forum.

Hi Dave - great to have another domainer on DN Trade. Are you full time?

There were a few of us that had a crack at shoppingcart.com.au, but we also missed out. But only ourselves to blame
because we didn't bid enough. Another member here picked it up.

You'll meet some great people on here.

Even though I have been conducting online business for a bucketload of years (around 1998) of never really gotten seriously into domaining until recently.

I never really bothered in the early days because of the restrictions imposed on registering and selling .au domains. Hindsight is a wonderful thing!

I have quite a few okay domain names in a variety of industries, but shoppingcart.com.au was the first real biggie that I have had a crack at (it's the industry that I'm predominantly focused on).

My main focus since recently selling my local web design business has been on developing my own web properties. I can actually see a really good business opportunity of using development/marketing/strategy/monetisation skills to partner with those who already own high end domain names. Is anybody seriously chasing this type of work in Australia?

pretty sure it got somewhere around $5100 on NetFleet, the bidding was a bit higher on drop.com.au
