Can someone recommend a reliable US based VPS hosting provider?

Not looking for for the cheapest, reliability and service is paramount in this instance.

Managed or unmanaged...

Looked at MediaTemple because I thought it had a good reputation, but after reading a few reviews I'm not so sure..

Linode or MediaTemple probably. JaguarPC are also tops.

I would highly recommend Steadfast.net, have been hosting with them for dedicated servers for a few years now and have been very very impressive.

One word of advice, you will find you read bad reviews about every web host, this can often have to do with a lack of understanding by a user rather than a lack of quality by a web host. Some Americans are just so ridiculously stupid, its not funny.
