SEO/Ranking affected by switching CMS?

Hi

Something I've been pondering for some time:

Say I started off a site using Joomla and after a year decided to switch to Wordpress. What sort of things would I have to keep an eye on so as not to lose anything in terms of SEO?

I'm talking about stuff like broken links, indexing, PR etc.

Has anyone done something like this before?

Cheers

Wordpress works well SEO wise out of the box which is probably why people think Google loves it. Personally, I think Google doesn't have any preference for either CMS, it's just that Wordpress is very search engine friendly.

Provided you re-create the pages/URL Joomla created (first preference) or 301 the old pages/URL to the new ones (second preference), you shold be fine. Even if it had a negative affect, it'll probably only be a short time thing.

Don't be scared to try new things, in my experience, Google is pretty forgiven provided you have good content.
