Launched by Brisbane's then-lord mayor Jim Soorley in August 2001 at a cost of $18 million, ourbrisbane.com was intended to be a one-stop portal for Brisbane residents, a place where they could pay their rates online or plan their weekend's activites.
A council spokesman said last night the website had cost a total of $55 million - minus profits - to operate over the past decade.
How not to run a site? I'm assuming they marketed it hard as that's a lot of money to spend launching a site.
