It seems AusRegistry performed some system "maintenance" over the weekend which has resulted in the loss of ability to process CORs during the 30-day Expired Hold state.

Apparently, has always been part of the policy just never enforced.

Thanks to Netfleet for confirming the system change.

Technically, a change of registrant request is achievable by the registrar of record through the available connections the registry provides to registrars.

Policy-wise, it is auDA’s position that a registrant’s domain name licence remains valid until such time that the domain name has been purged from the registry. That is, during the period where a domain name is in its 30 calendar day expiry status, the registrant has the right to renew their licence or transfer it to another entity pursuant to the Transfers (Change of Registrant) Policy.

For clarity, it is not possible to perform a change of registrant request on a policy-deleted or client-deleted domain name.
