How to get business

I'm just back now in Melbourne from the friday brissie meetup, i went up a day before and came back tuesday.

There have been some posts about " how do you get jobs" , " how do you find buyers" etcc so i AM going to keep this short in what i do.

The brissie meetup was great and we all exchanged knowledge and proposed JV's are mentioned but outside of Friday i also had a very productive few days and there is a very simple reason for it...... "i let people know i was coming" and i had another very busy weekend after the meetup and monday as well.

thats just it ! let people know you exist.

I met dnt members at the meetup who thought i could do something for them but it wasn't my "cup of tea", but i had just talked to a person who could do that and said "you need to speak to xxxxxx, thats what its all about.

Networking is a wonderful thing.

I Skype; or PM/email; or talk on the phone to many fellow members each week. I have learnt so much from others.

You don't have to give away trade secrets, but it's amazing the things that we can share between us (going both ways). It really can be a "virtual brainstorming". And I'm not talking
about selling domains to each other - we should be selling to endusers wherever possible! ;)

Let me give one example. A guy on here who has become a good mate told me about an enduser he had sold a name to. I ended up selling six domains to this person, and he became
a good online friend. (In fact, he even offered me a job!).

I was telling another member about this, and he mentioned he had names in the same niche. So what I did was contact the enduser, and let him know that I had a mate who had some
similar domains, and could I introduce the two of them? He was very happy for me to do so. I mean there would have been nothing to stop the member looking up the WhoIs and getting
the details himself and making a cold call approach, but an intro is just so much better.

And it's not just selling tips we can share amongst each other. That is just one small part of domaining. Knowledge is power.

Imho.

Well business is mostly networking and getting the right contacts,

I have been working in large agencies for the last 7 years or so in the Australia market, and I have met a whole bunch of people and worked close with them, they usually move onto an in-house role and then you can get an easy into into pitches or further business.
