Ouffer.com.au dropped today and JumpOnIt.com.au drops tomorrow. Decent amount has been bid on them.. both well established daily deal sites in AU. Is it just me or is snapping these names up asking for trouble?

Don't know much about ouffer.com.au, but I wouldn't touch jumponit.com.au - asking for trouble imho. And you would be saying "ta ta" to whatever you bid if you won it. Again - imho.

Amazing that they let this domain drop...

Actually Ned, I think Ouffer is the bigger risk - no way in the world you can claim you are using it as a generic term whereas the term 'jump on it' could conceivably be used in a non-infringing way.

Didnt scoopon get 250k for groupon.com.au?
Hmmmmm....might be worth bidding on

That was because they had the trademark for the domain too in the Australian market before Groupon.

I believe the trademarks on these domains are gone.

I see the owner of the .com was the buyer.

To me, this goes to show that if anyone else had bought it, they'd have been challenged. And regardless of outcome, it would have been a costly risk imho.
