Facebook networking assistance please

Hi all,

As most of you know I have a few websites, one is a business site (my wife's Jewellery site) and the others are set up for affiliate marketing (some are dot coms, some are AU sites) and I want to set up Facebook pages for each networking advantages.

Problem - I already have 2 private Facebook accounts via 2 email addresses from the same I.P. address. Facebook apparently auto tracks email addresses and I.P. addresses so that each time I go to sign up a new account (in this case I really want to get one rolling for Dazzlers Jewellery so I can stay in my wifes good books :) ) .... it automatically takes me to my existing account, or one of the two dependant on the email account I have open at the time. I have tried to use another email address but I cannot even get to sign up because it automatically takes me to an existing account.

Does anyone have an answer to this problem - I have heard of people having dozens of accounts (not that I want dozens by any means).

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

cheers,
Mike

You don't need seperate accounts to promote a business
Just create business pages using your existing login
Login, go to account (top RHS), help centre
Type: How do I create a page?

Thanks Joe - however with those sub accounts you can't use them to make comments on other pages as far as I can work out. For example I have an account (page) called Dazzlers Jewellery - I can't as Dazzlers Jewellery go making posts on any other page to generate interest in getting people to go to my page - or have I got it all ass up?

Also, I have one of those pages attached to one of my accounts but I need more, one for each of my web sites (they limit 1 per page as far as I can figure) - I can't even get an additional private page account to then be able to create a business page. There must be a "crack" for getting more facebook pages from the same IP address which appears to be the inhibiting factor.

Again, maybe I don't quite get the facebook thing - I just want to get the best marketing / exposure advantage out of social networking.

cheers and thanks again,
Mike

There is no limit to the number of Pages you can manage and create
Pages don't post, people post
People post their pages to their friends
Duplicate accounts will get you nowhere, except maybe booted
Will a duplicate a/c increase you friends?
I doubt it

You don't need friends. As has been suggested, pages are the correct way to market a business on Facebook. If you need fans of your page, you can:

A) Market your page on Facebook through PPC and only target the demographic who purchase this type of stuff.

B) Add "Like This" on all your products and "Become A Fan" on the front page and/or other pages. Offer some type of incentive for the user to do this such as a 5% discount on their next order or free postage. Facebook gives you the code for this and it's very simple to insert it into your code.

Don't use accounts, friends cap out at 5,000 and while you think you might never reach that amount, it happens. Pages are unlimited, you can post to your pages page about your latest products, special offers etc and it will show up in their feed when they log in.

Buying a couple hundred likes probably wouldn't hurt either as "no one buys what no one is buying" and the same can ring true for likes.

Yeah, WorG is right
You don't need friends to create and promote pages
I was just trying to point out the uselessness of having duplicate accounts
Anyway Shags, you have 53 friends on FB unless someone has hijacked your a/c
You can find yourself amongst my friends at my
www.facebook.com/Honan

And thanks to you and WorG for reminding me about the power of FB pages
I have neglected that side of business for a while
An american named John Lawson of colderice.com inspired me a couple of years ago with a talk called "Do you get it?"
He explained how social network tools like FB pages can be the equivalent of thousands of dollars in advertsing
Do you get it?
Hit John up on FB

I would not mess around with creating different accounts on Facebook to promote a business, they are very switched on to it now, and will just delete all your accounts with out even asking.

I have close to 20 different brand pages yet all link up to brand specific websites I run, you only run into problems when the brand page you own gathers over 10,000 friends then you have to "authenticate" the page using a PR rep for your brand or you need to request the Facebook team to accept your website is a legitimate connection with your brand page, they look over your website and check many factors.

Their are now soo many different rules with making brand pages on facebook I remember back when they first were released you could do any thing, no restrictions what so ever yet in todays market their are 100s of different restrictions you need to be aware of.

Also if you do not have a huge ad spend with Facebook you will have a night mare trying to contact them.
