training.com.au

well the elephant in the room ! its now at $1500.

if this is purchased by the government dept that let it drop then i'll be looking for a tax refund for their stupidity !

WTF is this and every gov before them doing ? just wasting our tax money.

i think this is a $10K domain at least, maybe more,

training, gov grants, rebates, apprentice concessions , long term unemployed......... etc , its a high income earner ESPECIALLY if an end user is bidding.

just my opinion.

if you are not bidding, have some fun and predict the end result.

well the elephant in the room ! its now at $1500.

Having watched domains like this over the years, these initial bids mean stuff all imho.

Fair "suck of the sav"; why would any serious bidder get in there the day before and bid it up so high? Doesn't make sense.

Currently 7 bidders - now $1781. And still about 14 to 15 hours before close.

There are potentially three types of current bidders:

  1. Heroes - these bidders place early bids knowing that they'll never bid high enough to win. But they can always claim to have participated (but had to bow out).

  2. Shill bidders - happy to chase the price up for their own reasons. Say no more.

  3. Genuine bidders - probably not many at this stage - but if they are there, they won't be chasing the price up yet. No sense in doing so.

As always, just my considered opinion. I may well be wrong.

as always , "well said ned"

maybe i should bid $1782 so i could add myself into version 1 and 2 ( but i'd never do that )

i think you are correct on version 3 and i am sick of repeating the same rhetoric of "blind auctions" ( yes i know we are looking at drop dot com au ) as that is all we can look at.

i think this is one domain that doesn't need shill bids, what will happen will just happen.

for domain sanity i hope it gets shilled to $50k on drop but gets a realistic price when FN pick it up...... YES I SAID IT....... oh my god !

the industry should be killing the shill bidders not the snipers.

One thing is for certain - at around 1pm today there will be increased heart rates in the offices of both Drop.com.au and Netfleet.

This will be followed by elation for one of them; and gnashing of teeth by the other. ;)

I think on days like this Drop is always cringing.. If they win, they then see the fixed bid opportunity cost on NF (usually significantly higher) if they don't win, even more depressing.

Any chance of the Government lodging a dispute against the domain?

I know of an ongoing saga where the Gov are repeatedly filing against the owner of a .com.au version of a .gov.au domain, just because they are using it in the same industry space.

Given training.gov.au covers the exact topics I'm sure training.com.au would be used for, perhaps some issues there?

Ah right. Sounds like they aren't eligible to hold the domain, or they aren't contesting the complaint with auDA.

Pretty funny that they keep picking it up. The Govt. should really push for it to be on the misspellings list if they are that concerned.
