What is the purpose of these monthly dropping threads? The other months don't have many replies in them, unless I can't see them??

These threads are for the topic of dropping domains, most of the time members will post a separate thread - either place to discuss is fine.

Interesting drops today - many of them I sold in a package of 167 domains to Salmat 2 years and 1 month ago (on behalf of a vendor).

Some of them they paid reasonable dollars for too - ones like ByronBayHotels.com.au and NoosaHotels.com.au.

Looking back on it, they used 6 different Gmail addresses across the parcel for the registrant contact. I wonder if that is why so many expired? I can't imagine that they would purposely let them all drop.

Could be another salutary lesson for corporate buyers - make sure your registrant contact email address/es are up to date.

Could be a lesson for all of us, doing a "stocktake" is HIGH on my new years list.

PS: don't rely on "your registrant contact email address"

That's great advice Ned - a good reminder to keep things up to date. I also think it's worth making use of features like auto-renew and using separate contact details so that nothing slips through the cracks :)

auto-renew is good but its not fool proof ( as people change banks ) if its not also backed up but an email address to a domain you WILL NEVER SELL eg: domains @ my-main-domain....

Thanks Tim and Cal.

Best thing I ever did was recently create my own "masterlist" with every bit of pertinent information about my domain portfolio (fairly large). I check it every day!

And when I say "I", credit goes to my son who is at Uni. He's smart - and enjoys the extra $$$.

My sense of comfort knowing that I'm top of things is immeasurable. And if I was to kark it tomorrow, my family knows what domains are in the empire. :)

very true for anyone at any age.

wills, assets, PASSWORDS, even the bloody URL to enter the password ! and don't forget your google adwords account and any affiliate accounts you have.

we get excited with all this but fail to record the info.

I posted recently that 90% of my new clients do NOT know how to access their domain name details/renewal/cpanel

and of course ........ backup back backup.

I tend to think we are off track now from dicardo83's question, but dicardo83 this is how threads can go and then a new thread is created to cover it, so if you are not seeing much it may just mean that.

I think dnt started a monthly thread on dropping domains because when interesting domains occur there can be manyyyyyy comments so breaking it up into months helps organise it all rather then have 57 pages to sift through.

some months are boring, others aren't

Some big wins for the netfleet tendering system latey - photoboothrentalgoldcoast sells for $556 no bid on drop, another just recently was surfexperience selling for $900.

I don't know how these buyers are finding out about the expiring domains and then coming to netfleet and making a bid of what they are willing to pay (rather than what they would realistically have to pay), but if they have agents acting for them I would think the agents would make a bid on drop.
