It's been a while...
It sure has, we still have an old room with your name on it so I keep thinking back to the good old days when King George offered to eat his hat if the Aftermarket Auctions failed... fun times.
I am going to be reaching out to sensible sellers during this trial to see if anyone else is willing to put their reserve prices on the line to get some momentum going again so feel free to start thinking about potential domains and suitable reserve prices.
I've done some thinking recently about making the end of the auction more exciting, I personally think the 5 minute extentions are way too long and just waste time as experienced bidders just extend by $1 twice and then take a punt once they know there are no more extensions. I also know that the last trial we had (7 years ago) we ended up with 24 hours of 5 minute extensions... that was too boring... so I've been thinking it would be interesting to trial 15 second extensions and during overtime bids have to increase by 10% to extend the auction. Feedback has been that 15 seconds is too short and I should not try for anything less than 30 seconds but my gut says that 15 seconds will feel more like the "going, going... gone" of a real auction.
What do you think? What worked/did not work for you all those years ago?
