Term not strong enough to justify development so the only really game is going to be waiting for someone who has no interest in the stats. Would say chances of resale is on the low side, hard to see value here

Whoa!
Hang on!
Oops!
That is SNOOPY's proprietary standardised appraisal

Mine is the following
Excellent leyword
$200-$400 to enduser
40% - 50% of above to (REAL) domainers

Why not try selling gold detectors yourself?
I suppose it depends how valuable your time is because the orders will not come flooding in and it will take you at least 3 hours to set up site, source and photograph detectors.
However if you do get good SEO and some orders you will have a part time business for sale. If you decide this idea is stupid, you might get $xxx from an end user

Mainly because I own hundreds of domains which would warrant the same sort of development - when ecommerce isn't my core competency (I've never run an ecommerce store) or passion and I like to stick to what I know rather than be a jack of all trades.

That said, if someone's core competency is ecommerce stores they should definitely get in contact with me and maybe we can strike a deal or organise a partnership because I have lots of ecommerce/product like domains.

Thanks for the assessment.

Anyone else have some thoughts?

What we have here is a term that isn't popular, that doesn't mean much at all of itself & is in a weak extension.

djuqa thinks this is worth $100-$200. I call BS, I don't think this member would even take it if it were free, he'd balk at paying the COR on it.

Joe brings up an interesting point about an ecommerce site. But why would anyone use this name to sell gold detectors? The obvious term for that is "gold detectors", that is 20X more popular & golddetectors.net.au is available. So if a name 20 times more popular and actually has some good commercial focus is available in the same (awful) extension why would this be worth anything? And why would anyone spend the significant amount of time that would be required to develop this? I just pray nobody goes out & wastes $20 on that name now though, there is no shortage of similarly poor names available in .net.au last I saw of it for anyone considering that.

[detectors]

[gold detectors]

Would it make you sleep easier Snoopy if I said I also own golddetector.com.au?

:D

Not as good as golddetectors.com.au obviously but you can't own em all...

Anyway I have thrown Detectors.net.au & Detector.net.au up on the AMA for sale today to see what happens...

Cheers, always like it when an appraisal is followed up with a sale, we'll now see what they are worth.

Well I should reclarify, people do search more for metal detectors but they ALSO search for gold detectors.

[metal detectors] - 2900
[metal detector] - 720
[gold detectors] - 880
[gold detector] - 210

Maybe you need a special sort of metal detector to detect gold?

Seems there is detectors specific to gold, doesn't matter much either way though, if the searches are there that is what matters.
