Just wondering what you guys reckon these domains are worth?

creditcardoptions.com.au
creditcardselect.com.au

Might as well be creditcardsandwich.com.au. Just sounds like creditcard combined with whatever keyword was left.

LOL - they aren't that bad!

Definitely some brandable value - both lend themselves to a comparison site of some sort like creditcardselect.com for example.

I remember in my industry, Ford ran a website carselect.com.au (seem to have given up on it now) and in the UK, carselect.co.uk is a 10 year old website from Lloyds bank.

So seems the big players do think that the addition 'select' can work. That suggests brandable/marketing value. Options are always good too.

I'd say liquidated they might get $XX-low $XXX but hold on, you might get very very lucky and score $X,XXX

The typical days drop barely gets a name in that range, and those are usually fairly "good" names by comparison eg ContainerTransport.com.au $46, preapproved.com.au, $26, euros.com.au, $82. That is a market that everyone is watching as compared to a private seller selling something where the pool of buyers is far smaller.

So why anyone expect to liquidate these for $XX-low $XXX or if "very very very lucky" $X,XXX.

David what are you willing to offer for these names?

I'd buy them both for $50 each, I guess. Sorry, can't help it if you don't agree with me - I think at an auction they'd probably go for around $100 each.

And if very, very lucky, if some marketing dude from a finance company reckoned they were great for a campiagn they could well spend $X,XXX. Not sure what's unreasonable about that statement?

The other thing to note is someone has bothered to develop both the .com equivalents so they obviously don't think the com's are worthless.

Where I do agree with you is that your cherrypicked examples do indeed look cheap.

David, is this a firm offer? What do you mean by "I guess"? Let see if we can get a deal happening here.

It it doesn't need any cherry picking, the bidders have already done that for them to end so high (for .com.au's), it is a tiny fraction that get to 2/3 figures in the first place and they are usually names that sound on the strong side. Yet in the world of appraisals every second name is supposedly in that category according to some.

The average drop is how many names each day, 500, 700 names? And how many names even go above $10, maybe 10 names? These names wouldn't get a bid on the drop in my view.

Jeez, keen for an argument this morning aren't you.

What do i mean by 'i guess' - well I would buy them at $100 for the pair yes but not really worth my time to pursue as, in my mind, I'm only making a paper profit of around $50 each domain.

But you seem to have some time on your hands so feel free to push for a deal thanks. I'll buy you a beer.

These names wouldn't get a bid on the drop in my view.

I think they would. Certainly more likely than creditcardsandwich.com.au but i guess we'll never know.

Thanks for the input guys. My initial plan when first registering the domain's was a comparison/search tool but like so many I never got round to it and now have the dilemma of whether to bother renewing or let drop.

If they are coming up to renewal I'd probably drop them...

That said, I'd put them on the AMA first. You never know...

Or maybe you can split the difference, renew whichever you think is the better one, drop the other and see how it goes in the drops and that should give you an indication of the value of the other, ie if it gets no bids on Snapper, then the other is almost certainly not worth much, if anything.

My instincts say they they aren't worth much if anything, would probably be better off moving onto greener pastures.
