.co.uk and .uk .. similar names but different entities

I thought it might be an interesting thread topic. Different entities sharing a similar cctld extension in the .uk space
You’d think that both extensions would forward to the same company, however that’s not always the case! Just how much confusion could be created when driving past a billboard, or seeing an ad in the newspaper; you decide..

-British.uk (British Limited)
-British.co.uk (Stenning Limited)

-Genius.uk (British Limited)
-Genius.co.uk (Unknown)

well the idea is that
british.uk will not be used for commercial purposes and so will not be advertising ... that is the theory anyway.

no matter how you look at it, anyone with a .uk or .au will be spending money to promote their site while at the same time a good chunk of their spend will inadvertently end up promoting the co.uk and com.au

so one would be crazy to try to start a business on the direct domain while the main one is already in use...

Could be some good traffic bleed if the other site is popular? But, yes of course confusion is never a good thing
