An SEO Experiment - Hope noone minds!

Hi All,

I'm doing a bit of an SEO experiment regarding how easily / quickly it is is possible to rank for a semi-random low competition keyword (aim is 48 hours to get to top 5). The keyword is "railway sleepers sydney", and it appears according to Google Keyword tool to get about 110 uniques a month, so not a zero value one.

There are no domain name matches in the experiment, but there ARE keywords in the path part of the URL. "Competitors" are not strong or well optimised, but do in a couple cases have partial domain name matches.

Not sure if anyone is interested at all in this type of experiment, and hope I don't upset anyone by dropping a link: Railway Sleepers Sydney

The above links to my blog post (which discusses SEO), which hopefully someone will find interesting. Link to origional forum discussion elsewhere is here I realise this post may be borderline within the rules here, but hope it's ok

Interesting one, SEO tests are great =-) Noticed you don't have any Meta Keywords, know their not exactly taken into favor any more with Google but I always still add them for lower range SE's who still favor them..

Also for the ALT tags I wouldn't make them that big imo..should have just made the image with your key term.

You could even get more into making like micro formats for the page too..

But yeah the competitors are not the best but I noticed some are very old forums ranking for these keywords, some times Google favors these old forums I have seen it for a case with a client where a old forum was ranking for negative brand comments..

18th for me.

I think you're biggest issue is going to be the lack of relevance your site has to the topic and probably more importantly the lack of relevance of links from a domainer forum.

And my understanding is that Google is even starting to discount the exact anchor text linking factor.
