I've been trying to move to wordpress site to a new host.

I've spend hours and hours and it's been an monumental failure. There must be an easy way. If you know PLEASE share with me.

Thank you.

Cpanel transfer? Else anything more complicated I generally hire a guy from Odesk or eLance to do it headache free

Ask new host to do cpanel transfer would be the easiest.

If you are totally failing, export theme, export data, upload theme, upload data, It can all be done from inside wp.

I would say yes a cPanel transfer would be the easiest, but there are always some reasons why that wouldn't work for you.

Are you moving the complete account? Only want to move one website within an account into another account you already have sites on?

Anyway, i've just written a post here with some steps that might help.

I've used BackupBuddy (paid plugin for WordPress) to do this. I moved a pretty complex site and had no dramas.

It's also the backup tool I use for my main sites.

This is the plugin site:

backupbuddy is my buddy :D i can move it, fix a few things, and have it running in 20minutes.

if its the same domainname then 10 minutes, the slowest part is the dns change sometimes.

but it doesn't do email accounts, if someone can tell me how it can then PLEASE.

Awesome Paul.

That little site of yours is gold. Got it migrated pretty quickly.

I almost had it the other day, but after using your method I realise your method is far easier.

Now to get the email sorted but I feel as if the bulk of the work is complete.

Thanks again Paul. ;)

Or you could do what I did and throw caution to the wind (and lose just about everything in the process). It was only a half accident though because I wanted to redesign the site... still, not something I would recommend :)

Nice one guys. That was the solution I was hoping for.
One tiny issue I had was with Step 6, editing the "config.php" file. Shouldn't it be "wp-config.php"?
